Vice-Regal The' Governor-General and Lady Freyberg left Wellington for the South Island last night. Ministerial The Minister of Education, Mr McCoombs, will arrive in Dunedin next Tuesday, and will probably leave for Invercargill the following day. He will hold discussions with the Otago Education Board and the authorities of the Otago University. Mr Leslie J. Betro was met by members of the Dunedin Locomotive branch this week, when he was presented with a wallet prior to leaving for Auckland, en route to Australia. Mr D. T. Woodfield, of Wellington, who was recently appointed manager of the New Zealand team for the Olympic Games, will visit Dunedin for the New Zealand National Swimming Championships next week. Mr Woodfield, who was formerly a member of the Otago Swimming Centre, will be an official at the meeting.
