MOUNTAIN ACCIDENT
NO COMMUNICATION FROM RESCUERS P.A. , TIMARU, Feb. 11. No communication has been received from the mountaineering parties making for the summit of Mt la Perouse to rescue the injured climber, Miss Ruth Adams, of Christchurch. This information was given this evening by the manager of the Hermitage, Mr L. S. Dennis, who said that a guide from Franz Josef was already on his way with members of a bush clearing party to meet the rescue party at the bush line on the western side of the mountain. He is to return immediately to Franz Josef and notify Mr Dennis of the condition of the injured woman. This message is expected to arrive on Friday night. Transport arrangements will be made in the light of the guide’s report. Arrangements are being made at Franz Josef for men to carry supplies to the rescue party on their way out as the National Airways Corporation was unable to assist by dropping supplies from an aircraft. It is expected that the party of 15 will reach the bush line at Gulch Creek on Friday night. The weather at the Hermitage is deteriorating to-mght, the sky being overcast and a strong north-east wind blowing.
