the following quotations per 1001 b for beef and per lb for mutton and pigs are supplied, with a comparison with last week’s prices, by our special representative at yesterday’s Burnside stock sale: —

steers. £l4 to £ls 10s; two to two and a-half-year-old, £l2 5s to £l3 4s; 18-month-old steers from £9. Speyed heifers, two and a-half to three-year-old, in fresh condition, made from £9. 15s to £lO 10s. The offering of runners and vealers was of average size, the greater number being runners. For these, best sorts made from £ll to £l3; good vealers, £5 18s to £7; light and medium, £3 4s - . Pigs.—The entry‘was somewhat smaller than for a number of sales, and although in the early part prices compared with last week’s, in the concluding stages there was a decided easing in values, these declining to the extent of 10s a head on opening rates. Best quality .baconers made up to £8 2s; prime, £7 12s to £7 18s; medium, £6 17s to £7; light, from £6 4s. Best quality porkers, £5 13s to £5 18s; light and medium, from £3 18s.
