GUN BATTLE ON TRAIN
CUBAN COMMUNIST KILLED Rec. 10.30 p.m. HAVANA, Jan. 22. Jesus Menendez, a Communist member of the Chamber of Representatives and spokesman for the powerful Sugar Workers’ Federation, was shot dead to-night on board a train. According to reports the .slaying occurred during a gun battle between Menendez’s followers and a Cuban army detachment as the train pulled into the station at Manzanillo, in the Oriente province.
