COLTS IMPRESS

TWO CONFIDENT INNINGS The Albion-Y.M.C.A. captain, L. D. Smith, won the toss in the game against Old Boys at Logan Park, but gave his opponents first use of the wicket, which appeared to have dried out well. Three wickets were down for 47 when A. W. Roberts was dismissed, but G. H. Millp and C. Graham made a useful stand. Mills was caught behind the wickets. The ball just rolled from his bat. Graham continued to bat solidly after a slow beginning. One of his most prolific scoring shots was a graceful late cut. He reached the half-century in SO minutes and his total of ’75 included seven 4s. He was caught off one of the few weak shots he mdde. Another young player who revealed a wide range of shots was R. Cooper, who. when he overcame an early nervousness batted with great confidence. Cooper and A C. Graham brought the total to 251 after a useful ninth-wicket partnership, Cooper’s contribution was 58, and Graham was unbeaten with 34. Slovenly fielding and several dropped catches proved costly to Albion, whose attack also lost its sung in the last hour. Albion opened its innings at 5.30 p.m. H Miller partnered E. Watson and gave a difficult chance in the slips before he had scored, but it was not accepted; the batsmen were together at stumps. Scores:— Old Boys First Innings G. H.
