BAKER’S SOUND DISPLAY

North-East Valley scored a five-point win over University on a much-improved wicket at the University Oval. The Valley team declared with nine wickets down for 312 runs on the first day of play, and on Saturday dismissed University for 198. Following on, University scored 25 runs for the loss of one wicket. After I. Botting had been dismissed for five runs, L. Baker and R. Hunt formed a partnership which lasted for an hour until Hunt was caught by B. Sutcliffe after scoring 44 runs. Baker batted soundly for 77, made in 160 minutes, and was bowled by S, Stronach.
