A CLOSE FINISH

BID BY CARISBROOK Failing against steady bowling in its attempt to obtain an outright victory, Carisbrook won on the first innings in the match against Kaikorai at the Carisbrook Ground. The home team carried its first innings score to one run more than the Kaikorai total, with the loss of five wickets and declared. L. Milnes was undefeated with 55. After an early collapse, Kaikorai consolidated its position with a sound partnership between L. West and L. Watt. A second half-cen-tury to L. A. Milnes was the feature of Carisbrook’s innings. Attractive batting was witnessed, but the rate of scoring was no fast enough for the home team to clinch the issue. Scores:— Kaikorai First innings 108 Second Innings L.
