REPORT CAUSES SURPRISE
REPAIR IN DOMINION INTENDED p.A. WELLINGTON, Sept.' 5. The cable suggestion that Harland and Wolff’s were constructing a forepart for the Wanganella, to be towed to Australia, was received with astonishment by those connected with the repair of the ship here. It was stated to be impracticable to tow the forepart from Britain and it was thought there must be some misunderstanding, as clear instructions regarding steel have been sent Home. It has been intended all along that the ship should be fully repaired and reconditioned here.
