CENTENNIAL CAVALCADE
RECORD CROWDS EXPECTED The Centennial Cavalcade, which, with the fireworks display, will be the main feature of Carnival Week, will include between 50 and 60 specially designed symbolic floats, as well as announcement floats, bands and marching groups, and a host of equipment vehicles. It will take between an hour and a-half and two hours for the Cavalcade to pass a given point. The Cavalcade Committee, whose convener is Mr C. V. Smith, has decided to divide the Cavalcade into seven sections, namely historical, . educational, transport, industries, armed services, public services and floral. Designs for most of the floats arc completed and many of them are now under construction. It is expected that the largest ?rowd ever seen in Dunedin will line the streets on the day of the Cavalcade. No decision has been made as to what route it will take, but the committee hopes to select a route which will enable the crowd to he spread out as much as possible and create a minimum of congestion.
