KEEN FAT SHEEP DEMAND PA INVERCARGILL, Aug. 19. Competition for fat- sheep and fat cattle was particularly keen at Lorneville Prices showed a substantial increase. A good type of bullock, sold on behalf of Mr EH Buchanan, of Waimatuku, made the best price of the season with £3l 10s. There was a medium fat cattle entry of good quality, more than half of which were bullocks. Country butchers were present and competition for ajl classes was particularly keen, values showing an increase of up to £3 a head. Prime quality bullocks made from £2B to £3l 10s; good quality medium-weights, £22 10s'to £25: light-weights, £2O to £2l 10s; smallei sorts £l7 to £lB. Prime heavy cows made- from £22 10s to £25 10s; medium quality sorts, £lB 10s to £2l 10s; aged sorts, £ls to £l7 10s; inferior, £ll to £l3. Medium-weight heifers made from £2l 10s to £24; light-weights, £l7 10s to £l9, small, £ls to £l6 10s. The fat sheep yarding, which wao smaller than that of last week, was comprised almost wholly of wethers, half of which were good quality and the resi mostly light and unfinished. The sale was exceptionally keen, probably the best this season. Good quality heavy-weight wethers made from 66s to 70s; handyweights, 60s to 645; medium sorts, 56s to 58s 6d; light-weights, 50s to 545; inferioi and unfinished sorts, 38s to 445. Good quality ewes made up to 50s bd ana medium quality sorts made from 4os to 475.
