KEEN DEMAND FOR STOCK Special to the Daily Times • OAMARU, Aug. 19. There was a large yarding of fat cattle and a small yarding of fat sheep at today's Waiareka sale, the stock in both sections meeting with a keen demand. For fat cattle, prices showed an increase of 15s to £1 per head on last week’s rates, and fat wethers improved by about 10s per head. Extra good quality ewes brought high prices. There was a fair yarding of pigs, weaners bringing from 30s to £2. Quotations:— Fat Cattle.—Steers: Extra prune, £2B 10s to £3O 15s: prime, £25 to £26 10s; medium, £2O to £24; light, £l6 5s to £l9. Heifers: Prime, £l6 5s to £l6 15s; medium, £l2 to £ls 10s; light, £9 to £ll 15s. Cows; Prime, £ls to £l7 10s; medium, £ll to £l4; light, £9 to £lO 10Sk Dairy ca'Alfe: Cows, prune, £l2 to £l3 10s; aged, £5 10s ,to £lO. Store Cattle. —Three-year-old bullocks, £l3 10s; two-year old m.s. cattle, £9; yearling m.s. cattle, £6. Fat Sheep—Wethers: Extra prime, 71s to 755; prime, 67s to 70s 6d; medium, 52s 6d to 575; light to medium, 46s to 525; light 42s to 445. Ewes: Extra prime. 50s 6d; prime, 42s to 445; medium, 36s to 395. Hoggets: Prime, 45s to 52s 6d: medium, 42s to 445. Store Sheep.—Romney cross ewe hoggets: Prime, 41s; medium, 365; wether hoggets, 265. 1
