FOREIGN MINISTER VISITING LONDON

Rec. 11.30 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 19. The Greek Foreign Minister, M. Tsaldaris, arrived in London yesterday from New York, where he has been presenting the Greek case before the United Nations, and spent an hour with Major C. P. Mayhew, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, and Sir Orme Sargent, permanent Under-sec-retary. No official information is available about the conversation, says the diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, but it may be assumed that the present critical situation in Greece was fully discussed, particularly in the light of Saturday’s proclamation by the Rebels of an independent “ Government ” on Greece’s northern border. The proclamation of a Cummunist puppet government, either in or near Northern Greece, had been expected in London for some time, and the move is believed to have been decided on at a recent meeting in Belgrade between Marshal Tito and the Yugoslav and Bulgarian Prime Ministers.
