CAVE CUP RUNNERS-UP The South Canterbury Football Association has decided ,-to close the Case Cup competition, Northern Hearts being declared the winners, with Oamaru the runners-up. Oamaru is to be congratulated on its fine showing in this competition considering the large amount of travelling entailed, and the fact that this was the first time for many years that the code has been played locally. Oamaru has entered a team in the Fraser Cup, which is a knock-out competition, and the following is tire draw:— Fishermen v. West End, Anzac square, Timaru, August 23; North Hearts v. winners, Anzac square, Timarut August 30; Oamaru v. Pirates, Anzac square. Timaru, September 6. A schoolboys’ team has also been entered in the South Island Soccer tournament, to be played at Timaru during the term holidays. Teams from the West Coast, Canterbury, South Canterbury and North Otago will be competing. A trial match for the team will be held on Takaro Park on Saturday at 2 o’clock, when a final selection will be made and the team announced by the selector and coach, Mr A. Napier. . A match against the Liberton Club (Dunedin) will be played at Oamaru on September 13.
