TAXI DRIVERS

SPECIAL MEETINGS DISSATISFACTION WITH CONDITIONS FEDERATION’S AID SOUGHT Two special shift meetings of taxi drivers in Dunedin were held yesterday. Strong dissatisfaction with the existing conditions was expressed at both meetings, and it was decided to refer the question of the taxi drivers’ dispute over wages and conditions to the Transport Workers’ Federation and the Federation of Labour with the request that they should take immediate action to obtain a settlement. In a statement to the Daily Times last night, officials of the union said that a pamphlet showing the conditions under which the taxi drivers are working would be prepared and distributed to all taxi passengers in the near future.
