Concluding Day at Riccarton

PRIZE RING BEATS HURDLERS Special to the Daily Times. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 17. There was some good racing on the last day of the Grand National meeting. A section of the crowd was in a critical mood, making some demonstration about the improved form of three winners—Wane, Findon and Kirkella—while some badly placed patrons -of the outside enclosure made a Quite unwarranted display against the judge’s placing of Page’s Raid as the winner of the Lincoln Steeplechase. The Mosgiel trainer, D. P. Wilson, was before the judicial stewards on a charge of misconduct. The offence was admitted but in view of the apology tendered he was fined £lO.

The weather was fine and the track m excellent order. The totalisator handled £139,961. compared with £142,249 10s last year.
