WIN FOR MANIOTOTO B
The Otago B Grade representative team found Maniototo B far too experienced and skilful The young Otago team, consisting largely of secondary school pupils, however, played gamely, and at times pressed their opponents. Otago opened strongly, and .only sound defence by the Maniototo goal-keeper, V. Pringle, prevented them from scoring. Thereafter Maniototo took charge, and E. Harrex was conspicuous in scoring twice. The Otago full-backs and goal-keeper were not impressive at this stage, and the lead was further increased When ■H. McMillan sepred for Maniototo. Otago rallied, and D. Wood scored after a fine solo effort. The halttime score was 3—l. The Otago forwards were working hard as individuals, but had no combination. In the second half Otago improved, and, although Maniototo scored again when E. Harrex gave the goal-keeper no chance, the game finished with Otago pressing strongly and Maniototo being somewhat lucky to clear from several penalty corners. Outstanding players for Otago were M. Ives, J Smallman and D. Wood. The umpires were Messrs C J. Hayward and F. L. Scrivener. <
