CHIEF CONCERN
MANUFACTURERS' REACTION
PASSING ON THE COSTS P.A. WELLINGTON, Aug. 15. Mr W. J. Truscott, president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation interviewed at Auckland by telephone, said: “All I can say at this juncture is that the manufacturers throughout New Zealand have looked forward with keen anticipation to the pronouncement of the court. Their chief concern will be the question of passing the increases on to the buying public, and that is a matter that will require speed to avoid capital losses on output which the manufacturers would otherwise have to take. “It has already been given mi evidence before the Arbitration Court that, generally speaking, manufacturers could not absorb price increases, and they naturally will be concerned in having price adjustments to avoid capital losses. “ The Manufacturers' Federation, with all such groups, will consider the matter forthwith and decide what action to take to protect the interests of their members.”
