FEMALES AND JUNIORS
INCREASE OF 10s FOR WOMEN WORKERS In regard to junior workers and adult female workers the decision incorporates the two following findings: “We propose, in amending the rates of remuneration for junior workers in awards and industrial agreements, fo follow broadly the practice we adopted in 1945, of prescribing percentages of adult male wage rates, and having regard, of course, to the provisions of the Factories Act, 1946, and to any increases which may have been made to the rates of remuneration in each award and industrial agreement since March 17, 1945.” “We propose in amending awards and industrial agreements as a result of this pronouncement to increase the rates of remuneration of adult female workers broadly by such amount as will bring them to a level approximately 10s a week above the gross rates provided for in the amendments which followed the 1945 pronouncement and which, in most cases, operated from April 1, 1945.”
