NOTES FROM RICCARTON

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-DAY Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 15. Mr E. R. Curtis intended to school Court Dress over a few fences this morning, but the idea was abandoned. He has been on the easy list for a few weeks, following ah injury while racing at Washdyke last month. His knee was very much enlarged this morning and he will not be a starter in the Hunt Cup. Kassai has engagements in both of the hurdle races to-morrow, but he will start in the Sydenham, leaving Aldis Lamp to take on the hacks in the Styx. Of the horses who are in two races torhorrow. Royal Flash will run in the Longbeach Handicap, also Leeston (to be ridden by G. Gray). Riding arrangements suggest that Mr Buzz and Lodestar will contest the RedclifTs Handicap. Kinrara is sore and he will not be a starter in the Styx Hurdles, while Cerisette will not fulfil her engagement in the Longbeach Handicap. As Queen’s General has not done well lately, it is not certain that he will run

in the Redcliffs Handicap. For a similar reason, Gold Medallion is a doubtful starter in the Longbeach Handicap. B. J. Langford will ride Connaught, while the latest report is that he will also be on Verdant, and that P. Corboy will pilot Cloister. A. E. Didham has made a change in his riding arrangements for the Styx Hurdles. D O’Neil will be on Lord Roland, while no rider has been secured yet for Night Fighter. No riders have been engaged for Kill Fast, Baffling, and Bobby Dazzler, three acceptors for the Redcliffs Handicap. Velvet Slipper was to have run in the Heathcote Handicap, but he ricked his hindquarters and his acceptance was cancelled. No plans have been made as to which race Royal Robe will run in: If the Longbeach Handicap is chosen, L. J. Ellis will also have Invest in the race, and he will have to find riders for both of them. Ellis will then be free to ride Copper Coin in the Redcliffs. On the other hand, if Royal Robe runs in the Redcliffs, Ellis will he his rider, end will also handle Invest in the Longbeach, with K. Thomson on Copper Coin in the Redcliffs.
