TRAINING SHEARERS

Potential shearers are being invited to complete a thorough training in how to shear sheep, as a result of a special instructional scheme being financed by the New Zealand Wool Board. A two-day monthly meeting of the Wool Board concluded recently in Wellington. Members decided to support the “ learner ” training scheme drawn up

during the meeting of interested representatives two months ago. This involves the training of up to 100 learners in each island and will begin shortly The board is making funds available for the work, which will be administered by the National Service Department in conjunction with committees formed by sheepfarmers in shearing districts throughout New Zealand. Details of the scheme are now being completed by the National Service Department and advertisements will appear soon inviting learners to take advantage,of the training. Each learner will be guaranteed an instruction period of three weeks and will receive a subsidised weekly wage during his training time.
