MANCHESTER UNITY
WELCOME TO RETURNED MEMBERS There was a large attendance of members of the Loyal Oamaru Lodge on Thursday night when a social function was held to welcome returned service members. N.G. Bro. Hill was in the chair, and on behalf of the lodge extended a warm welcome to the guests. Toasts honoured included “ District Officers ” (V.G. Bro. B. Allan—D.P.G.M. Bro. E. H. Dawson); "Brethren of the Forces" 'P.P.G.M Bro. Alex. Shgo, Dunedin—E.S. Bro. I Bain, navy; PG. Bro. I. Brown, army; P.G. Bro. W. B. Christie, air force); and “ South African Veterans and 1914-18 Diggers" (Warden Bro. S„ M. Lord—P.G. Bro. W. Edwards. South African veterans; P.G. Bro C. E. Taylor. 1914-18 veterans). The following contributed items;—Bro W. W. Dorward, Messrs A. Baxter and A. Nuttall. Messrs S. Armstrong, E. R. Chapman, G. and D. Swann, R. Sowden, F. Lavender, J. Sinclair, E. Chapman, D Swann, and E. McNulty. The accompanists were Messrs J. Macmillan and G Dorward.
