POWER CUTS

COMPULSORY RESTRICTIONS LIFTED In a statement issued by* Mr A. R. Tail, chairman of the Waitaki Electric Power Board, yesterday afternoon, he thanked consumers for their help in the administration of power cuts, and announced the lilting of all the remaining compulsory restrictions. He pointed out, however, that it was still necessary to keep the board's consumption down to that of last year. Consumers were stili required to save at least 10 per cent, if the hoard was to keep within its allocation, which remained unaltered. In relying entirely on voluntary saving co-operation of all was sought to the end that it would not be necessary to revert to compulsory restrictions. Thursday’s consumption was 5490 units under that day’s allocation, making a total accrued credit for the week of 16,483 units.
