KAITUNA CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Kaituna Lawn Tennis Club was held on Thursday. The election of officers for the coming season resulted as follows:—President, Mr R. F. Phillipps; immediate past president, Mr K. Stewart; vice-presidents—Miss M. Kerr, Messrs R. A. Guy and R. Galbraith; club captain, Mr R. Rudkin; committee —Mrs Aitken, Mrs Guy, Messrs M. McKinnon and G. Laidlaw; auditor, Mr W. R. Sinclair; delegates to the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs R. Rudkin and R. F. Phillipps. It was decided again to offer free membership to two girls from the Otago Girls’ High School and two boys from the Otago Boys' High School. The opening day was fixed for September 6.
Regarding the playing of matches on Saturday, it was decided that the club favoured some Saturday morning matches being played by all grades and that the playing of matches on Saturday mornings should not be confined to one grade only. It was also decided that the club was in favour of only A Grade matches being cancelled when major representative matches were played. After discussion, it was resolved that the club delegates should raise the question of the Centennial' Memorial at the annual meeting of the association and that they should press for a combined effort of all sports bodies to endeavour to have some part of the Centennial Memorial devoted to the provision of recreation facilities instead of the proposed schemes.
