DRINKING AT CARISBROOK
Sir,—When one observes what took place at Carisbrook through the smashing of beer bottles on the ground after the representative match last Saturday, it is hard to believe we are living in a civthsed community. I consider it is time the Rugby Union took a firm stand against those who persist in taking liquor into the grounds. Why not request the police to take action against those persons found with bottles of beer and making beasts of themselves, much to the annoyance of other people who have come to see the game? If the names of such persons were taken and salutary fines imposed on them by the magistrate, we would not be so li'kely to have a repetition of the disgraceful conduct of last. Saturday. It is an offence to have liquor in the vicinity of a dance hall: it should be an offence to be found with liquor inside the Carisbrook Ground. —I am. etc.. Observer.
