The Mayor, Mr Cameron, will return to-morrow from Greymouth, where he has been attending a conference of the South Island Local Bodies’ Association. Mr W. J. Rogers, M.L.C., has been appointed a member of the Town Planning Board in place of Mr J. W. Andrews, who has resigned. . . , Mr R. Culford Bell, chief chemist of the Vacuum Oil Company Pty., Ltd., left Auckland yesterday for a three months business visit to the United States. Mr F. Brown, of Christchurch, has been appointed business manager of the Waitaki Bovs’ High School, and will commence duties at the beginning of next term. Mr Justice Archer, of Wellington, has been appointed chairman of the Goods Service Charges Tribunal for the term expiring on September 30. He will replace Sir Francis Frazer, of Wellington, who has relinquished that office. The Electricity Committee of the City Council has recommended the nomination of its chairman, Cr Wright, as the Dunedin representative on the executive of the Electric Power Boards and Supply Authorities’ Association. The annual conference of the Public Passenger Transport Association will be held in Wellington from October 7 to 9. and the Transport Committee of the Dunedin City Council has appointed its chairman, Cr McCrae, and the engineermanager, Mr L. C. Greig, to represent the council at the conference. Passengers who left by air for the nortn yesterday were Miss J. Harris (Christchurch), Mrs N. Sharp, Mr J. C. Watt, Mr J. R. Morgan, Mr Dalbeth, Mr M. O. Barnett, Mr Briton-Smith, Miss J. Stenart, Mrs J S. Jamie, Mrs P. West (Wellington), Mr W Cranford, Mr G. A. Flnlayson Mrs W. Davidson, Mrs B. F. Armstrong (Auckland). Those who arrived from the north were Mr and Mrs H. Bull, Miss J. Bull, Miss S. Bull, Mr and Mrs W. Bull, Mr H. Staton, Mr J. K. Robertson, Mrs E. Taylor, Mr D. R. Hunter, Mrs R. Dobbie, Mr D. R. Treweek, Mr D. Horton and Mrs T Sherman.
