NOTES FROM AUCKLAND

HUNT CLUB CANDIDATES TIGER TAN IMPRESSES IN TRIALS / Special to the Daily Times AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. Some interesting work was performed at EUerslie this morning in preparation for the Pakuranga Hunt meeting on Saturday The outside of the course proper, the poles being 60 feet out, was available for galloping, and the going was very heavy after showers overnight. As a result times were slow, and the best halfmile was credited to Tiger Tan and Wonder Boy, who ran 54sec. Several horses were schooled over the steeplechase fences and they included Esmonde and Murphy, who gave good displays. Tiger Tan and Wonder Boy sprinted four furlongs in 54sec. with the former going the better at the finish. Tiger Tan appears to have freshened up since returning from his unsuccessful trip to Trentham and has been working nicely. Wonder Boy won three races in succession as a two-year-old last season and is to have his first start as a three-year-olc in the First Sylvia Park Handicap tomorrow. Lord Revel’s Three Lord Revel (Gilchrist) went freely while running three furlongs in 41sec. Broiealice (Hughes) covered the same ground in 43sec, and she was going comfortably at the finish. Fair Dinkum (E. Harrison) also ran three furlongs in 43sec. He is an aged gelding by Dink from Joy Queen, and is engaged in the First Sylvia Park Handicap. Coogee (R. Smith) led Dougal (T. Green) over four furlongs in 54 2-ssec. These horses are in capital order and have been working nicely. Bustany was under restraint while running four furlongs in 58 4-ssec, and The Fake placed five furlongs behind in lmin 12 2-ssec. Master Ted (Hughes) was timed to run five furlongs in lmin 15sec, and Rating (R. Smith) was going well within himself at the end, of four furlongs in 55 2-ssec. *
