PUBLIC INTEREST

RUSDEN MURDER CHARGE CROWDED POLICE COURT P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 4. , The tremendous public interest in the Rusden murder case was reflected to-day, when a large crowd, including many women, packed into the Police Court before the appearance of Mrs Pansy Louise Frances Haskell, aged 49 who is charged with the murder of Mrs Gladys Ruth Rusden on June 5. Many people were unable to gain admission to the court. After the charge, was read, Senior Detective Aplin asked for a remand until August 11. Counsel for the accused, Mr M. Robinson, said he had no objection to a longer remand which would suit the police. Detective Aplin accordingly applied for a remand until August 18, which the magistrate, Mr J. H. Luxford, granted. The accused, who was arrested on Saturday morning, then left the dock in police custody.
