AIR STATION FIRE
AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS, SAVE MACHINES Rec. 9.15 p.m. CANBERRA, Aug 4. Automatic sprinklers saved 20 R.A.A.F planes worth more than £IOO.OOO from destruction by fire at Canberra air station to-day. A fire •which broke out in one of the large hangars, destroyed a light Auster training" plane, but the heat turned on the sprinkler system’. Officers report that there were no suspicious circumstances.
