MOSGIEL BOROUGH
MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING The monthly meeting of the Mosgiel Borough Council was held last evening. There were present the Mayor, Mr W. p Hartstonge and Crs Souter. McCartney, CO T n “ r L?.?eT s“h<£S°Snd Mock wondering on the borough roads was brought un and it was decided to ask the inspector to keep a watch for offenders. The Metropolitan Fire Board wrote regarding defects in certaiiTpublic buildings in Mosgiel.—lt was decided to write to the authorities concerned. Borough Works The Works Comrmttee reported that gravel had been spread on the shoulders of Gordon road south of Gladstone road and Gladstone road west of Gordon road. From the'mill to the borough boundary the water table had been cleaned and the footpath gravelled. Sixteen streets had been graded. Street Lighting Arrangements had been made to install a street light on Factory road at the borough boundary. The engineer had conferred with the Dunedin City Coiporation’s reticulation foreman regarding the positions of new poles required in Arevll street. The committee had approved the renumbering of houses in Argyll street commencing at the soutn CllCl ' Water Committee The Water Committee reported that .t had received a sample of the fire plug indicator received from the Dunedin Metropolitan Fire Board, and the engineer had been instructed to procure and place in position whatever number of these was required. Mr J W. Cosgrove had been given mission to trap opogsums on the water reserve at Whare Flat. Loan Proposals The Finance Committee reported that, following the recent visit to Mosgiel of Mr Climie (chief engineer, Housing Construction Department), it has been decided to modify the loan proposals slightly with a view to achieving co-ordination between work to be done In the borough and possible development work by the Government in areas adjacent. The General Committee reported that during the month five building permits were issued, the value of the work involved being £3674.
