POWER RESTRICTIONS
TWENTY PER CENT. CUT REQUESTED RATIONING THE ALTERNATIVE The Waitaki Electric Power Board has requested consumers to reduce the consumption of electricity by 20 per cent, in view of the present grave power shortage. The alternative to the voluntary reduction of the use of power is the introduction of rationing, with all its attendant hardships and inconveniences. The utmost economy from all consumers—domestic, commercial, and industrial—is urged by the board. Failure to comply with the request may mean that power will be cut off for long periods. The use of Neon and advertising signs has been prohibited by the board, and this, so far, is the only mandatory regulation imposed.
