HOCKEY PERSONALITY
Now standing on the sideline in his new capacity as sole selector for the Otago hockey representative team, which has challenged Canterbury for the New Zealand Shield in July, E. J. Rennick can look back on a fine record in the active and administrative sides of the game. Last year he was one of the selectors for the South Island team and he has been selector of the Otago representative teams for a number of years. Mr Rennick was an active member of the Otago Hockey Association for some time and has acted as manager of the representative teams on a number of occasions. His playing career began in the primary school, where he was a Hatch Cup representative, and from that beginning he won his way to a place in the South Island team some 13 years ago. Mr Rennick was one of the foundation members of the Albany Hockey Club and is a life member. Last year he played for the Albany A team as right wing, but it was as an inside forward of class that he will be remembered. Rennick is one of the most outstanding hockey players Otago has produced. Although his playing days may be nearing an end it is not unlikely that Rennick will turn out in the future to assist his old club.
