COMMITTEE REPORTS The following committee reports and recommendations will come before the Oamaru Borough Council at its monthly meeting to-night:— Finance. —Recommending that a grant of £25 be made to the Tribute to London Fund. That the committee does not recommend making a grant to the Royal New Zealand Horticultural Society. That the council oiler for sale the houses to be buiit in Mersey street in accordance with plans and specifications received, and that details be left to a sub-committee. Town Hall. —Recommending that the Oamaru Amateur Boxing Association be granted the use of the Opera House on Saturday, July 12. That the tender of A. H. Wilson (£145) for renovations to the offices occupied by Lee, Grave and Zimmerman be accepted. That the caretaker’s report on the excessive number of lamp replacements at public conveniences be -referred to the engineer of the Waitaki Electric Power Board for his comments. By-Laws.—That the committee cannot recommend paying a rental of £ls a year for the use of loud speaker units on traffic control cars. That the letter from the Automobile Association (North Otago) asking the council to issue instructions that "any new cycle stands be located adjacent to pedestrian crossings be received, and that the association’s letter with reference to pedestrian crossings being laid down with white gravel be referred to the chairman and engineer for a report. That the Crippled Children’s Society be granted a "street” day. Reserves. —Recommending that the Salvation Army be granted permission to give a band programme in the Gardens on Sunday afternoon, June 29. That the North Otago Men’s Hockey Sub-association be adv.ised to get in touch with the Rugby Union regarding the use of Tskaro Park on Monday and Wednesday evenings. That the superintendent and engineer be asked to inspect the damage at the pavilion on King George's Park, and also to inspect the building vyith a view to making the building suitable for letting as housing accommodation. Gas. —Recommending that the communication from the Price Tribunal advising that a subsidy of £9OB for the year ended March 31 has been approved by Cabinet, be received.
