DUST IN MINES

SUPPRESSION METHODS VISIT OF ENGLISH PROFESSOR Daily Times Special Service AUCKLAND, May 26. An expert in methods of suppressing dust in mines, Professor T. D. Jones, of England,, arrived in Auckland today by Tasman flying boat as a guest of the Government, and will discuss technical mining problems with the Department Scientific and Industrial Research. During 13 weeks he spent in Australia, Professor Jones visited over 40 metal and coal mines in the course of investigating mining difficulties. He has brought a film with him on dust suppression, and. expects to deliver lectures in the Dominion before he leaves for England on June 5. On his return he will take up the position of professor of coal and metal mining at Birmingham University. Before he left England Professor Jones was on the staff of the Cardiff University.
