A Federal grand jury indicted Gerhart Eisler. described as the top Communist agent in America, on charges of swearing false statements when applying for a passport in 1945. The indictment charged Eisler with concealing the fact that he was a member of the Communist Party, with concealing the fact that he used and was known by various aliases, and with concealing the fact that he had teen in the United States within the preceding 10 years.
