STRIKE IN NEWSPAPER OFFICES
Rec 1.15 a.m. MELBOURNE. Apl. 15. The mechanical section of the Victorian Printing Operatives’ Union decided at a stop-work meeting to go on strike. The newspapers affected are the Melbourne Herald, the Sun. the NewsPictorirl, the Age and the Argus. The union is claiming the recent 7s a week increase in the basic wage. The proprietors claim that the recent award anticipated and provided for the 7s. The Melbourne Herald crme out to-day in reduced size.
