GIRLS’ MARCHING
GROWTH OF PASTIME P.A. WELLINGTON, Apl. 15. The office of patron of the New Zealand Marching and Recreation Association has been accepted by the Governor-General. Sir Bernard Freyberg. The association, which controls girls’ marching contests, is now established in 25 centres throughout the Dominion. Next year the Dominion championships will be held in Dunedin in conjunction with Otago’s centennial celebrations. During the intervening months indoor physical and recreational training will be carried out. The New Zealand Association, said the president, Mr G. E. Stanton, today, was particularly pleased to have associations in smaller towns affiliated with it. It is likely that provincial centres will shortly be formed enabling more inter-district contests to be held, leading up to North and South Island and Dominion championships.
