BRITAIN’S GRATITUDE
PARCELS FROM DOMINIONS P.A. AUCKLAND, Apl. 15. ■ The gratitude with which the people of Britain received food parcels from New Zealand and the other dominions, and the assistance they gave in supplementing the rigid rationing system was frequently commented upon by passengers arriving by the Port Hobart from London. “The food position is bad, and the present winter has not helped,” said Dr G. L. Rolleston, a New Zealander, who has returned to take up a position as assistant radiologist with the Christchurch Hospital Board. Dr Rolleston said the meals in London restaurants were poor, and not very sustaining. He agreed that the housewife had a hard task, and added that the regular power cuts for some hours each day made matters Supplies of coal were short, and although they could be ordered, one was never sure when they would be. received.
