NOTES FROM RICCARTON

SPELL FOR CLOUD SONG

Special to the Dally Times CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 17

The three-year-old Cloud Song has been sent to Southland for a spell, but as she is in good racing condition J. Thistleton may keep her in work with a view to a few races before she is turned out.

Two additions to his team were brought back from Trentham last week by R. E. Johnstone. Flying Orders, a four-year-old by Croupier, has some useful hack form, and he should be a,prospect for Easter. The two-year-old Screw Picket, by Spiral from Curtain was shod this morning, and will be started in work without delay. Queen’s General did not race up to his best form on the first day at Trentham, the track being too hard for him, and he did not race last Saturday. With conditions' to suit, he should do better here at Easter. Kirkella will be allowed to miss his engagements at Oamaru. He lias done a lot of good work, but he looks on the light side. . According to a report from Southland, Pensacola is training on well, and it is expected that he will be ready to run prominently at Riverton next month. Authentic has gone on the right way since he won the chief event at Motukarara a fortnight ago. He should get some more money at Oamaru. A Leighon—Financiere three-year-old in H. Nurse’s stable has been working well lately, and he may be given a race at the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting next month.
