MISSING LIFEBOAT
FATE OF CREW UNKNOWN HONOLULU, Mar. 17. The fate of 12 members of the crew who abandoned the Fort Dearborn in an open lifeboat when the tanker broke in two, is still unknown. The Navy Department said the lifeboat, if still afloat, would have probably drifted out of range of land-based aircraft, consequently shipping in the area had been diverted to broaden the search.
