DISABLED TANKER
RESCUE ATTEMPTS POSTPONED BATTERED BY HIGH SEAS Rec. 9.30 p.m. HONOLULU, Mar. 16. The broken stern section of the tanker Fopt Dearborn, which has been endeavouring to reach Honolulu under its own steam with 22 members of its crew aboard, is being battered to-day by high seas and 60-knot winds. Rescue attempts have been postponed by the Navy amphibious command ship El Dorado, which radioed that it is having increasing difficulty in staying with the weakened stern. \A Navy patrol vessel sent to sink the unmanned bow by gunfire reports that it is abandoning the search because of the seas.
