“WILDFLOWER”

POPULAR MUSICAL COMEDY The scenery and costuming are particular features of dhe current J. C. Williamson production. “ Wildflower,” at His Majesty’s Theatre, both having been imported for the musical comedy from Australia. Joy Beattie, Allen Christie, Marie Ryan, Dennis Hawley, and Norma Neville—by now familar to Dunedin theatregoers who have enjoyed the previous presentations by the same company —again take leading roles, and they are joined by Phil Jay, at one time a member of the Kiwi Concert Party. “ Wildflower ” is based on the. story of an Italian girl who is left a fortune by her grandfather on condition that she retires to a Lake Como village for six months without showing any signs of her hitherto intractable temper. Plotting against her are other possible claimants to the fortune. Slight enough, the story serves as a convenient peg on which to hang a sparkling array of songs and dances. ” Wildflower ” will be presented tonight and will conclude its short Dunedin season to-morrow night after a matinee in the afternoon.
