MOVE BY EMPLOYEES

SYDNEY. BUTCHERS’ DISPUTE GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION SOUGHT (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 7. There is no sign of Government intervention to end the closure of Sydney and Newcastle butcher shops, now in its second day. Only 50 of Sydney’s butchers’ shops were open today, and with meat supplies from the sale yards and abattoirs dwindling these may be forced to close soon. The employees are seeking an interview with Mr Chifiey, and will ask the Federal Government to take over the shops at key points to assure supplies of meat to the public.
