AMERICAN DAVIS CUP TEAM KRAMER HAS AMBITIONS SYDNEY, Jan. 6. The - Davis Cup left by air for America with the members of the United States team last night. Shortly before the departure of the plane from Mascot aerodrome, Sydney, the American manager, Mr Walter Pate, received a message from the State Department at Washington giving the plane permission to land the team members and the cup at San Francisco. This waived the interim agreement by which Australian planes were permitted to land at San Francisco for refuelling and servicing only but must take passengers and cargo to Vancouver. "The cup, which is making its first air trip, was insured for £2500 and stowed in three sections near Mr Kramer, Schroeder, and Parker ail said before leaving that they hoped to return to Australia within 18 months Kramer plans to emulate the feat of Donald Budge in 1938, when he won the French, Wimbledon. American, and Australian titles in one year.
