MR GANDHI WON OVER SUPPORT FOR MISSION’S PLAN (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 1. It is believed that the consultations which the Congress leaders, Pandit Nehru, Mr Acharya Kripalani, and Mr Shankerrao Deo had with Mr Gandhi at Spirampur, resulted in an agreement to recommend to the All-India Congress committee meeting on January 5, the acceptance of the British interpretation of the Cabinet Mission plan of May 16, says the New Delhi correspondent of The Times. The Congress chiefs say that the leaders persuaded Mr Gandhi to support acceptance of the British interpretation of the clause that provides voting in sections by a simple majority rather than by individual provinces. The All-India Committee is expected to show “ sweet reasonableness ” by reiterating the acceptance of the entire Cabinet Mission plan, and thus giving the Moslem League no excuse for boycotting any longer the Constituent Assembly. Mr Jinnah may object to being rushed and it seems unlikely that the Moslems will attend the Assembly on January 20, when it is due to resume.
