YOUNG ALL-ROUNDER
It was rather ironical that a Dunedin boy playing for Canterbury in the Brabin at Christchurch should score exactly the same number of runs without losing his wicket as the Otago batsmen managed to score in their first innings. His total was 77. The batsman was R. N. Couper, a member of the Christ’s College first eleven, who is one of the most promising left-hand bowlers in Christchurch to-day. He secured three of the Otago wickets in the first innings at a cost of 28 runs and took two for 26 in the second innings. A few weeks ; go, playing for Christ’s College against Otago Boys’ High School, he took six cheap wickets in each innings. Couper will probably play in Dunedin -during the vacation. He appears to have a bright future as an all-rounder.
