PENSIONER’S DEATH
HIT WITH KNUCKLE-DUSTER (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 3. A knuckle-duster with whiih a rodeo rider hit an invalid pensioner who later died was described by Mr Justice 'darkell to-day as a "horrible looking instrument.” Henry Roy Bowden, aged 38, was sentenced to four years in .goal l'or having occasioned actual bodily harm. , J J ... After the accused had pleaded guilty it was stated that the charge was the result of an altercation in a residence. The knuckle-duster, which was originally the handle of a commando knife, had been brought to the house as a curio. After falling twice when struck, the pensioner died of a fractured skull.
