WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. “ The Australian election results are most - encouraging,” said the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, addressing friends and supporters in the Brooklyn electorate last night. “As Prime Minister.” Mr Fraser, added, “ I do not interfere in the polltical affairs of another country, but I have worked with Mr Chifley, Dr Evatt, Mr Forde, and others, and I know how honest, how sincere, and how able they are.” Mr Fraser paid a tribute to the Aus - tralian Prime Minister, Mr Chifley, who, in spite of the bribes of his opponents, had refused to • bribe the people with false promises, and had told them the truth. “And the truth prevailed,” added Mr Fraser. "We must ensure success here, and go one better, with an even bigger majority than marked Australia's splendid victory.” Mr Fraser said he considered that this was a critical election, and must result in a decision whether the country would go forward to greater achievements or whether it would go back. The Labour Party was of the people, and that was the impulse that had dictated all the legislation whicn had sprung from the necessities of the people.
