FREIGHTER DELAYED

ACCOMMODATION DISPUTE

After a delay of nearly 24 hours through the' refusal of her Canadian crew either to leave the King’s wharf for an anchorage or to put to sea, Canadian-Australasian Line freighter Waihemo left Auckland about 5 o’clock this afternoon for Vancouver, via Suva and Papeete. ) The delay was the result of the refusal of a request from the crew to move a distressed British seaman, a Vancouver galley-boy, who was being, repatriated, from their quarters to accommodation amidships, and the Waihemo sailed shortly after the seaman was brought ashore by the company. The delay, in addition to holding the freighter in idleness,.was causing difficulties to other ships waiting for berths, and the company finally decided that the issue was not sufficiently important to warrant serioiis effects.' The galley-boy will join a later ship.
