ILLICIT TOBACCO
DISCOVERY IN QUEENSLAND
MOBILE MANUFACTURING PLANT BRISBANE, (Rec. 9 pun.) Aug. 28. i An early morning discovery in mountainous country in North , Queensland has led to the breaking up of a gang of illegal tobacco operators whose activities involve thousands of pounds. Two Customs officers unearthed a mobile tobacco manufacturing plant housing 5601 b of illicitly made tobacco ready for sale and 12001 b of leaf tobacco ready for manufacture. The discovery included a large powerdriven cutting machine. The search covered many miles of mountainous bushland.
Other branches of illegal marketing of tobacco have been discovered and a number of arrests will be made.
