A warm rain would dc a considerable amount of good. Progress has been made on the land this week with the. sowing of spring crops, etc. Wheat stocks from the country have been practically cleaned up, and it would appear that threshing has now been completed. Very few, if any, further deliveries will be made to the mills. Merchants report better inquiries this week for seed wheat, mostly of the Cross 7 variety. Oats-—lnquiries for white oats are still coming in from the North Island, but there are very few available. Prices remain unchanged. Chaff. —The season is about finished, although it is possible that further chaff may be required in the North Island later in the year. This will probably depend on weather conditions. Seeds.—There has been quite good activity on -the markets for clover seeds this week. Tests coming to hand for red clovers are In the main satisfactory Lines are still coming forward to the stores for dressing. There appears to be a considerable shortage of uncertified ryegrass of good germination, and apparently a surplus of low-testing seed, which is hard to quote. The weather in North Otago is on the dry side for sowing seeds. It is early yet, and next month should see a better demand.
